Below is our Spring flyer for current groups at Clarity Counseling. We are running both virtual groups at this time, so please read carefully which option is offered per group. VIRTUAL 13 Week DBT Skills Group serving ages 14 - 19yrs. We are currently enrolling for our next teen group, starting June 21st and June 23rd. The Tuesday group will run at 4:15 - 5:15 and the Thursday group will run at 12-1pm.
Alicia Ayvas, LCSW was trained in DBT in 2009 at Columbia University and is overseeing the Thursday night group that will be run by Holly Serrano, LPC and Katie Bowler, LCSW. The group is energetic, educational, and targets all 4 modules in DBT and will leave clients with a comprehensive binder of all of the skills learned throughout the group. All groups are currently held virtually, so Clarity will be able to provide support for group members who live in Virginia/Maryland/DC at large.

OCD

Age: These groups are for ages 14yrs -19
Where: From the comfort of your own home (we will be using ZOOM
as the virtual platform)
When: Tuesday's at 4:15 - 5:15 (12 - 17 year old's) starting on June 21st
Thursday's at 12pm - 1pm for adolescents starting on June 23rd
Cost: $80 per group for Adolescents (due to group running for 1 hour) and members
must commit to all 13 sessions with consent for group leader to communicate with primary therapist. Payment will be taken at the start of each module.

8 - Week Teen Coping Skills Group - Virtual

Our world has been flipped upside down over the last two years and Clarity Counseling hopes to provide more support to our teens, especially entering into Summer!
This group will provide teens with skills to manage stress and anxiety and build resilience. We also will process together the changes over the
last school year and summer stressors. Each week, we will learn new coping skills inspired by Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and talk about how to use the skills in everyday life.

This group is pulling from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for the majority of the skills taught; however, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) will
also be integrated into the group. This group meets on Tuesdays in Reston at 3pm-4pm and is $80/session. Receipts are provided for reimbursement.

10- Week Process Group For College Students
Currently Enrolling Members for Start date of May 31st
This group is intended for young adults who are home over the summer and are needing a tune up prior to returning to school or entering into the workforce. This group is pulling from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for the majority of the skills taught; however, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) will also be integrated into the group. Members are asked to share and receive feedback in a confidential space so that he or she is able to talk freely about current events, topics presented, and thoughts/feelings coming up in the week. This group will meet on Tuesdays at 10am-11am over our HIPPA compliant Zoom platform and is $80 per session. The first group will start in early May, following the end of the semester for most VA universities. Receipts are provided for reimbursement.

In-Person Group
Eating Disorder Recovery Process Group on Tuesday's at 1pm-2pm
CURRENTLY ENROLLING MEMBERS for start date of May 31st in the Reston location
Summer is coming and while this might bring to mind rest and relaxation, when you’re in recovery from an eating disorder this can be a tricky season to navigate. Changes in weather, clothing, activities and social interactions can trigger worried thoughts about food and body image. Let these triggers be an invitation to reconnect with your reasons for recovery and to get the help of a supportive community of like-minded individuals. This group is structured as a safe space to check-in and share about your thoughts, feelings and behavior urges as well as to give and receive feedback on your recovery journey. This group meets in person in Reston on Tuesdays at 1-2pm and is $80 with receipts provided for reimbursement.

Virtual 8-Week Body Image Group on Tuesday's at 5pm-6pm for 18+
CURRENTLY ENROLLING MEMBERS for June 21st start date
Clarity Counseling is thrilled to offer a comprehensive 8-week body image group that is taken from the evidenced based workbook, "The Body Image Workbook" by Thomas Cash. Brigid Morse, MA, Resident in Counseling ran this curriculum back at a HLOC prior to joining Clarity along with Clarity's Director, Alicia Ayvas, LCSW, CEDS-S who used this workbook for a research back in 2008. this 8-week program is an effective way to improve body image and decrease body dissatisfaction. If you are interested in participating in this group, please contact us for more information. This virtual group is intended for adults, ages 18 year and older and requires group members to participate in and out of group. This is an interactive group with assignments to be completed in-between sessions. It is a CBT approach to treating body image issues and is a powerful tool in inviting lasting change.

Topic: DBT What is it and how can we use it during these uncertain times?

This NEW monthly meeting is meant to help bridge the gap in treatment by providing information and coaching to parents and supports. June's topic will focus on DBT and provide an overview of the 12-week DBT skills group offered here at Clarity. This is a great way for parents and supports to learn and understand what the upcoming DBT skills groups will be focusing on.
Alicia Ayvas, LCSW, CEDS-S, Clarity's Founder and Executive Director, is excited to offer this new monthly meeting, and hopes to focus on different topics each month for education, coaching and support.
